Career and College Promise

Gaston County Schools is pleased to partner with Gaston College and encourages our students to participate in College Now through the Career and College Promise (CCP) program.

For the 2026–2027 school year, students and their families are responsible for purchasing all required textbooks, digital access codes, course materials, and any associated fees necessary for successful participation in College Now courses.

Purchasing Course Materials

Please review the following information to ensure you are prepared for your College Now courses:

  • Follow the registration process for College Now courses as outlined by your school counselor and Gaston College liaison.
  • Once you have been successfully enrolled, determine whether your course requires textbooks or other instructional materials.
  • Review the Gaston College Bookstore website to identify the required materials for your course. 
    • If a course lists a Required resource, that material must be obtained for the course. 
    • If a course lists a Choice of resources, students may select the option that best meets their needs. 
    • If a course lists an Optional book, a digital version is typically provided, and purchase is not required.
  • Students may purchase textbooks and course materials through the Gaston College Bookstore or another vendor of their choice. Families should compare prices and purchasing options before making their purchase.

Financial Hardship Assistance

Gaston County Schools recognizes that purchasing college textbooks may create a financial hardship for some families.

Students who are experiencing a financial hardship may apply for assistance and request that Gaston County Schools provide required course materials. Assistance is not automatic and is based on demonstrated financial need and available funding.

Students seeking hardship assistance should contact their school counselor or Gaston College liaison before the course begins to obtain information about the application process and eligibility requirements.
